About Me

Dr. Steve Paragioudakis, MD is a well-reputed orthopedic and spinal surgeon, award-winning physician, philanthropist, and sports enthusiast. He speaks multiple languages and has many interests inside and outside his professional life. Dr. Paragioudakis is a devoted father and husband with four children and currently serves as Residency Director for the Monmouth Medical Center orthopedic residency program.

Current Role & Duties

Steve Paragioudakis, currently serves as director of the Monmouth Medical Center orthopedic residency program. In this role, he guides residents at the state’s oldest orthopedic residency program, founded in 1945. Residents receive clinical training and academic instruction with an active research program. Paragioudakis offers his expertise to help develop innovative orthopedic techniques. In this role, he provides residents with early surgical exposure and preparation for fellowship training.

Paragioudakis also has ongoing research products in development for several devices. His areas of excellence include minimally invasive spine surgery, robotic spine surgery, revision spine surgery, and SI pain solutions. These techniques have revolutionized spinal surgery, increasing positive outcomes and decreasing recovery time. This results in less pain and more results for many patients.

Educational Background

As an accomplished practitioner and academic, Paragioudakis attended Johns Hopkins University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts. He then went on to obtain a medical degree from the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) at Rutgers. After completing his medical degree, Paragioudakis completed an internship and residency program at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Department of Orthopaedics.

Dr. Steve Paragioudakis, MD went on to complete two spine surgery fellowships. the first was at the University of Stanford in Palo Alto, and the second was completed at St Mary’s Program in Francisco.

Professional Skills and Experience

Dr. Paragioudakis has achieved notoriety for his research and surgical practice throughout his career for over three decades. For example, in 2000, he published a clinical science paper on low back pain research that was awarded the International Volvo Award for Low Back Pain Research. 

Paragioudakis is an accomplished orthopedic spine surgeon who founded Orthopedic Spine Specialists of NJ. As a surgeon and entrepreneur, he has flourished in his professional ventures. As such, he also co-founded the Center for the Functional Restoration of the Spine (CRFS), located in Toms River, Shrewsbury, and Edison, New Jersey. 

He also helps patients obtain positive outcomes as an orthopedic spine specialist. His practice specializes in acute, congenital, and chronic spine disorders. In his career, he has provided surgical and nonsurgical treatment for degenerative disc disease, trauma, disc herniation, tumors, scoliosis, infections, and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Steve Paragioudakis, MD believes that his practice is at the forefront of minimally invasive surgical techniques and enjoys working with patients to help them understand their condition and find an optimal solution. He also specializes in revision spinal surgery and orthopedic care.

Awards

Steve Paragioudakis has received numerous awards for compassion and timeliness as well as his professional expertise. For example, he won the compassionate Dr. Recognition Award for over ten consecutive years. This award honors physicians who treat patients kindly and is based on bedside manner scores given by patients. He also won the patient's choice award for seven consecutive years. This award reflects the positive influence physicians can have on their patients. It is given to doctors and surgeons with nearly perfect scores on patient surveys. He has also received the Compassionate Doctor award for more than five years in a row.

In his accomplished career, Dr. Steve Paragioudakis, MD has received numerous professional and patient-based awards. However, his focus remains on achieving improvements and positive lifestyle changes for each patient he treats. 

Philanthropy/Charitable Involvement

Steve Paragioudakis was born and raised in NJ. He supports his community by donating to his church and local charities and also gives his time and energy to support the causes he believes

in. For example, the notable physician encourages young people to remain active and coaches youth basketball leagues, which he has enjoyed doing for the past 20 years. Paragioudakis also belongs to Leadership 100, an organization that celebrates the orthodox faith and Hellenic ancestry.

Steve Paragioudakis is a member of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as the National Board of Medical Examiners. Maintaining membership in these other professional organizations helps him stay in touch with the latest trends and developments in orthopedic and spinal surgery, his two major areas of practice.

Although deeply dedicated to his career, Dr. Paragioudakis understands the importance of life balance. He sets an example for his children and up-and-coming doctors by exploring a well-rounded lifestyle. 

Dr. Steve Paragioudakis, MD to travel with his family and explore new restaurants. He has a particular interest in economics and sports and still enjoys an active lifestyle. His hobbies include weight training and exercise, and his favorite travel destinations often involve a beach with beautiful views. 

Besides speaking English and Greek, the cosmopolitan doctor has learned Spanish. This background makes him uniquely prepared when it comes to world travel.
